Blue

Priest, scientist, anarchist, plant: Pa'u Zotoh Zhaan from Farscape has got to be one of the coolest characters ever.

The costume got started over a year ago, when I was thrifting with my Gramma and found the magical bobble necklace/bracelet thingy I'm wearing on my wrist in the pictures below.  At first I was going to make a full-blown costume to go with it, but I had trouble finding a fabric for her tunic that would drape the way I wanted it to/couldn't afford that many silver ear cuffs (eight!)/didn't want to shave my head and paint it blue, as actress Virginia Hey did for three years until she had to quit the show because all the makeup was making her kidneys bleed.  So I settled on a stealth cosplay, and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Someday I'd love to make one for each of Moya's crew, including Moya herself--that'd be a fun challenge to take on.  (Can you tell I'm a fan of this show?)

-Boyfriend jeans from my closet
-Grey textured sweater, also from my closet

-Blue bobble necklace/bracelet thing
-Silver tone leaf ring from my jewelry box (because she's a plant! Get it?)

Many thanks to my friend Christina for taking pictures and for letting me mooch her nail polish.

Curiouser and curiouser

This is a stealth cosplay inspired by one of my favorite pieces of children's literature, Lewis Carroll's Alice In Wonderland.  I put most of it together several weeks ago from items I already had, and have been waiting for an opportunity to use it.

In a hole in the ground...

I went to see the third Hobbit movie today with a group of friends in costume, and decided to do something I've been meaning to do for a while now, and start a cosplay blog!  My costume, pictures below, was meant to be a feminine version of Bilbo's costume in the poster for the first movie, more or less.  The lighting in these photos isn't too good; hopefully future ones will be better.
